July 20, 2015

Houston, TX – Plumbers Local #68 has chosen Lane Lewis as their candidate for Houston City Council At-Large Position 1.

One of the Houston area's most storied Labor Unions, Plumbers Local #68, which recently celebrated it's 123rd anniversary, has joined many of the major local unions in endorsing Lane Lewis. A consensus among labor is growing as organization after organization tap Lewis as the candidate most prepared to take the helm in the open City Council At-Large Position 1 seat. Lewis's problem solving acumen and quality of relationships were cited as reasons for the latest endorsement.

"Lane has worked with our organization and fellow labor organizations for years, we know he is capable of solving tough problems," said Plumbers Business Manager Calvin Speight. "He knows all the players from all sides and can get everyone on the same pagewe think he will make an excellent Council Member for all of Houston."

"The Plumbers have made a mark in our community that goes far beyond their work in our homes and buildings," Lewis said in response to the latest endorsement. "Plumbers helped pioneer Union outreach into the community and apprenticeship programs, their contribution to Houston is seen in the sons and daughters of Union Plumbers who go on to do great things outside of labor. They train tomorrow's craftsmen, but they also raise lawyers, doctors, and leaders in our community, this endorsement is a great honor."

Lane Lewis has served the community of Houston for over 20 years as a social worker, educator, office holder, and community leader. As City Council Member At-Large Position 1, Lane will work to fix our roads, make all neighborhoods safe, and continue Houston’s prosperity in all communities.
